Hartmut DB6LL once again made another comparisation chart (tnx). It includes the new Q65 mode. I publish it here with permission.
I didn't try Q65 myself yet. If you like you can download the first release candidate of the WSJT-X software featuring Q65 here. If you compare Q65 15s with FT8 it could do a 3dB better decode which is a huge difference. Some people think that Q65 will take over FT8 on HF, but personally I don't think so. FT8 occupies "only" 50Hz. Q65 15s will occupy 433Hz. You can fit 8 different FT8 signals in one Q65 transmission. So, I really doubt this mode will get populair on HF. However for EME, troposcatter, rainscatter etc. this is a interesting development.

Hallo Bas, mooi en handig overzicht. Moest wel een loep erbij pakken. ;-) 3 dB better is a huge difference: half S-puntje. Nog steeds begrijp ik niet waarom JT9 is verlaten. Toch beter dan FT8, denk ik. Maar ja, als niemand er meer mee werkt dan houdt het op. Q65 is vooral voor de lagere HF banden van belang. Of het echt heel populair wordt betwijfel ik. 73 Paul
Hallo Paul, volgens mij kan je het plaatje wel wat vergroten hoor. Zou je het even op moeten slaan. Evt. heb ik wel een grotere versie voor je. JT9 is zoveel beter maar ook langzamer. Echter als je JT9 in 15s variant zou maken zou je veel inleveren op gevoeligheid. 3dB is best wel een groot verschil in digitale modes. Vergeet niet dat je dan de helft van het vermogen kan gebruiken. Theoretisch een half S-puntje inderdaad. Maar in praktijk het verschil van verstaan of niet verstaan. 73, Bas
