5 MHZ TRIAL ALLOCATION CEASES
Unfortunately the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) has advised us that they are not willing to approve another renewal of our 5 MHz trial allocation/licence.
AS A RESULT, ALL USE BY NZ AMATEURS OF THE TWO 5 MHZ TRIAL FREQUENCIES, 5353.0 KHZ OR 5362.0 KHZ MUST CEASE FROM MIDNIGHT (11:59 PM) ON THIS SATURDAY 24 OCTOBER 2020.
Very unfortunate since I know there are some operators that have contact with ZL stations every day. It seems that there is also scientific research been done, but I'm not shure what and who has been doing it. Hope to read or hear about it soon.
If you like to say goodbye on air to our friends in ZL or try for the last time to make a QSO with ZL on 60m you better try it tomorrow (24th of October). There is a 13 hour time difference between NZT and UTC. So if I'm not mistaken they have to cease transmissions on 10:59 UTC. Most contacts from Europe to NZ are made on 5362KHz FT8 between 5-6 UTC.

Very disappointing to hear this, Bas. I just checked my log and have zero contacts with ZL on 60m - a missed opportunity since my lowband antenna won't be up until Monday.

That is very sad. Still, it was a trial, and nobody will get anywhere arguing with the military!
Hallo Bas, dat is jammer dat ZL 60 meter moet verlaten. Jij hebt ze nog kunnen werken. Dat is mooi. Mijn PC is gecrasht en is naar de reparateur. Dus voorlopig kan ik alleen nog met SSB uitkomen. Hopelijk weer snel gerepareerd. 73 Paul

After numerous contacts with ZL ham friend in their window 5.362 FT8 JT9 and CW 15W restricted! it is over.
Hard to believe that the military's can't miss 3kHz But in EU the 60m band was 100kHz and now just a small part left and anytime someone who does not like us can switch on a STANAC high power woodpeckers exactly in our restricted window or in the past exact in the ZL window.
