After a long week of listening all my spare time, and checking for them on the DX cluster I finally heard and probabely worked TY1MS on 17m. Unfortenatly just when they came back for me I got a huge spatter signal on their frequency. They where very weak 3/1 in the QSB and more noise then voice. But at a certain moment I could understand about 80% and that was more then I received from them in a whole week. I cannot check the log if I made it as they don't update. It's a matter of distance, the nearest internet access is 17 km away. I will continue the hunt for them in the next two weeks as they are in Benin till 31 Oktober. Hopefully I can work them on another band as well just to be certain.

I took some free time this afternoon as we went for my XYLs job diner early. So I had some short time to spend on the radio. Just listened for a while on 15m SSB to St. Helena Isl. and Australia pile-ups. Then a spot of 7Q7CE on 17m PSK appeared on a DX cluster so I switched over and did see 7Q7CE but too weak to try. Back to 15m then and I decoded VK3AMA for a short while making QSOs disappearing with QSB. Again switched to 17m PSK and suddenly see VK3AMA making QSOs. At a certain moment I just tried and....well I was still transmitting with the 1 Watt setup from my 80m WSPR adventure. But Laurie came back with QRZ?QRZ? I tried again with 15 Watt now, and he came back to me. Finished the QSO with 25 Watt, no problem.
This story remembers me of my first DX station received. It was about 25 years ago and I was listening with a 22 channel FM CB radio which i converted with a crystal to 44 channels. That did give me the opportunity to listen to a few channels above "40". It was there that I suddenly heard a Icelandic station talking to someone in the Netherlands. I was so excited that I went to my father who was busy in the garden telling him the story and invited him to listen to this magic. Well, I think the story I told was just not really interesting for him I assume, like the above to someone that is not involved in this radio hobby. But he came to my shack to listen. The station I heard from Iceland is still active as far as I know and years ago a spoke to him several times.

Because of the "special activities" on de WSPR homepage I've been on 80m WSPR last night, day and this evening. I'd hoped to get my 1 Watt signal into Australia, but that seems not as easy as on 30m. Best DX was W1BW from the USA (loc:FN42hl dist:5652 km) he is receiving only with SDRs. There where plenty of european spots, but well that is almost not really interesting anymore. After I analyzed where I've been spotted, I did look after my own receiving results. 2 stations took my special attention: DI3FHC loc: JD76 and 6I9GRX loc: FB03. I've been looking for these locators on this great site from F6FVY en came to the conclusion that these are wrong decoded stations or someone is trying to fool me? It appears I was the only one decoding these 2 stations. I've been looking in the list of received stations to see if there is some similarity with another call but I could not find it. Strange, does anyone know what cause this? Did it happen before?
