Portable digital with Raspberry Pi concept

KI6NAZ from Ham Radio Crash Coarse has made a great video of his ultimate portable setup with a Raspberry Pi. A different concept with the same goal. Doing digital modes with the freedom of connecting a laptop or tablet wireless with the radio.

I really like these videos. If my bluetooth concept will ever fail to work this is absolutely a good alternative.

Hello Bas,

That's an interesting video. The amount of cables needed (and extensions) renders it impractical IMO but, as a proof of concept project, it would be fun. I'm hoping to use the RPi with the 60m Phaser once I receive the kit. In the meantime, I'll be following your digi-portable progress.

The cables can be short, with the added, significant advantage of wired connections placing less resource demand on the system and not suffering dropouts such as can happen with Bluetooth. Even my Win laptop doesn't work as reliably as we would want with B/tooth.

Have to test the BT connection, so far it seems reliable. But haven't been on air really. Only the test with the dummyload proved it works...
Not shure if I am on the right path, but hate to do what others do. 73, Bas
