My 2 language blog continues

I've held a survey about this 2 language blog the last 2 weeks. I think I'm one of the few that don't let the translate robots do their work but translate it all by myself. I don't really translate actually, most of my post I write orginally in english and make a dutch version later, sometimes the other way around. It costs me some extra time but this way it's all good readable in both english as dutch. The advantage is that I get some exercise in english. Although there will be a lot of language errors in it. This blog is part of my radiohobby and sometimes also a release of my thoughts. There are so many ideas I have about this hobby and more then half of it can't be really made. I hope some of the readers will pick up some of the ideas and continue experimenting with it. Then at least I have the feeling I don't do it for nothing.

This is the outcome of the survey:

I was active with 17m WSPR 1W from the horizontal loop ths afternoon. Again it occured to me that I receive more then I can reach with my 1W. Do I have a very good QTH with less noise or is my receiver that good? I don't know, but the horizontal loop of course is not a good DX antenna with a low angle of radiation. Besides that most stations are using a "QRO" power of 5W these days.

WSPR heard in with 1W results

73 Paul

Bas - I've always enjoyed your blog and your English is fantastic! I only wish I knew a second language. Your writing is exceptional and I very much enjoy your perspective. Thanks for posting and keep those adventures coming! I was on 17 tonight and I need to get my beam up for that band. Like 30, it's one of my "other" favorites!

Bas, your English is very good indeed. No problems there!

73, Bas

Thanks Phil, I enjoy your blog as well. As a second language I wouldn't recommend Dutch. It's too difficult, even for Dutch people ;-). I like the simplicity of English, though it is not my native language. I always had a click with the language since I was a teenager. I sometimes think I was a englishman in my former life? Who knows? 73, Bas

Thanks Anthony, well it isn't without errors I'm aware of it. But so far I didn't get too many complaints. Enjoy the blog. 73, Bas

Hello Mike, I never intend to skip the english actually. But writing all posts 2 times is double the time to post anything. But the survey outcome is clear. Most people like it the way it is now! 73, Bas

73, Bas

Yes, please keep the English version - your command of English inspires me to continue practicing my Spanish!

PE4BAS, Bas said...

Does this mean you will make a english/spanish blog in the future John? ;-) I think if you really want to have a top blog with at least a million readers, the postings should be in chinese. 73, Bas

No, I was thinking of either Esperanto or Old Latin...!

Hallo Bas, your Dutch is excellent. ;-) Two languages, is a very good way, but it takes more than twice the time to write.
When I write on my web-site in English and Dutch, I start with English. After that I translate to Dutch, with a mix of Google and translation by hand. After completing the text in Dutch, I further enhance the English text with the improvements that I made, while translating to Dutch.
When I read your Blog I skip to the text in Dutch because it is more easy to read in my own language. Thank you for you N/E Blog. 73, Bert

Hello Bert, actually that's a strange way to write a blog if you think about it. But most of the time I do it the same way. I write the posting in english and after that I write a dutch kind of translation. It's seldom I do it the way around. 73, Bas
