Kingdom of the Netherlands

After more then 100 years Queens we finally have  real King today. What do ordinairy dutch people do at this day? Well of course most of the people have a day off. There are lots of activities all over the kingdom and if you like you can go there. But most important was the abdication this morning at 8 UTC. We enjoyed the pleasure of a cup of real Dutch Douwe Egberts coffee and a orange tompouce while watching the abdication on TV. We will watch all the important cermonial moments througout the day.

Congratulations to the Dutch nation. And, a male monarch. Seeing three daughters, well, appreciate the new man while he reigns.

Hello Bas,

It was the first news that I heard today on the radio! :)
One of my first journeys to the Netherlands has coincided with the "Queen Day", I think, according to what someone explained me then, were there was a parade of old stagecoach around Amsterdam to celebrate.

73, Bert
