K5D Bad luck !

Bad luck working K5D. I was gambling that the pile-up would be less in the last few days, but it was not. Called on various bands in CW and SSB but no luck. Frustrating when you read on the cluster that it has been worked with only 80W on a dipole from Europe. But most of the time I was not able to even receive them. Tested my antenna on 30m PSK31, no problem to work KP4 with only 20W. But no QSO with K5D. I hope to be more lucky at the next DXpedition.

Hi Bas,
Yes it was very difficult to get in the log of K5D.I am happy that i made it.

In the start of the DXP,they where every day very strong on 20M,but after that the propagation went down.I had some days that i could hardly hear them on 20M.Also sometimes very big difference between the SSB and CW signals.
I am sure that i have worked them on SSB.Did try them also in CW,but not sure if i am logged. This can be the problem with CW running of the computer.
I made the QSO in the evening, after a whole day no signals here from them.I was lucky, because they where just monitoring 14234 for some minutes, till they changed Ops.

On RTTY there was no change at all.On 20 and 40M the pile ups where very big and very wide split as well.Normally it shouldn't be a problem,we make more QSO's with KP4...but then without pile up.

For sure, when there's a new DXP planned to Desecheo Island, you will have your antenna's up and working good.No problem for you then to log them.I am very sure of that.

73's for now
