Into the future...I was right!

In the past years I wrote some articles about the future of radio. 4 years ago I did a prediction. I found out today that with availability of the Icom IC-7300 this prediction was right! The new Icom IC-7610 is probabely available June this year. Of course this IC-7610 model was already on the prototype shelf when the IC-7300 was introduced.  I'm curious now what Icom has on it's design shelf at the moment? 4 years ago I was pretty confident about a future radio but this time I have no idea?

  1. They are milking the price of the 7300 for all it's worth the price needs to fall! At the end of the day it is just a radio and soon other manufactures will respond with cheaper SDR.

    1. I hope to price will be less when the IC-7610 is sold. I would like to have a IC-7300 on my desk but I agree with you. It is a bit expensive for what you get. 73, Bas

  2. Most radios are overpriced. They know they have a small enough market of well-to-do old men that they can charge what they want.

  3. Until I win a lottery, my 718 will have to suffice. It is a really good primary basic rig for now.

  4. I agree, I have a 718 which is a fine rig. If they can make that for the half the price, and with a third more components than an IC-7300, I rest my case for a price drop ..

  5. From the comments I read here I notice that some of you are satisfied with the rig you have. I don't know if the IC-7300 is marketed for old man with lots of money. I'm a member of the IC-7300 group on facebook and see that most buyers are young amateurs. The old man most times don't like the new technology introduced with the IC-7300 SDR. However I don't think a IC-7300 gives anyone more pleasure in the hobby. There is always something better and bigger to get in the future. Personally I will stick at my old IC-706 as long as it holds and dream of another fine radio. 73, Bas
