HB9CV test

Beautiful weather today. Blue sky and temperature rising to 7 C. Time to raise the HB9CV. It is now at about 8m above ground level. Good enough SWR from 28 - 29 MHz to work without a tuner. First contact on 10m today was with RO22AA, I thought it was with the beam but the switch was still on the vertical. First contact with the HB9CV was actually with TB5ZND Nico from Turkey, I was surprised that it was a fellow dutchman so we talked dutch. I tried to make a video to show the difference between the vertical and the beam, that went not too well. But at the end I saw the antenna was not in the exact right direction. Anyway, most of the time the HB9CV is 2 S-units better as the vertical I noticed. Second QSO was with FT5ZM Amsterdam Isl. for a new all band DXCC. Actually his signal was S2 on the vertical and S5 on the beam. It went quite easy only 2 calls and I was in the log! Unfortenately I noticed another thing, when I turn the antenna west and over our neighbours home I got a lot of PLC noise on almost the whole 10m band, strange enough I hardly notice it on the vertical. So, was it worth all the effort. Well, I think it certainly is!

Good evening Bas, the pictures of the antenna look great and it seems to be working just fine. To make it past the pile up of FT5ZM is fantastic. For your receive it sure is a big difference between S2 and S5. It looks like it is going to give you many more contacts to come.

Hello Mike, after watching the video again I must admit that you can see the difference. I hope it will make me many more multipliers and QSO's. 73, Bas

Geweldig resultaat Bas.

73, Bas
